Talking to Myself

I am one of those people who constantly ‘talk to myself.’ Yup, I admit it, I talk to myself. However, I’m aware of all that is associated with it so I refrain from doing so when I am walking the street since I don’t want anyone to be looking at me in a strange way. If I am searching for a particular thing, I would wonder out aloud where could that thing be, or didn’t I last see it here or there etc. Don’t worry though, I haven’t gotten to the place where I am answering myself so there’s still hope for me 🙂 🙂

Because of this habit it’s therefore not unusual to find me speaking words of blessing to the Lord over and over as they come up in my spirit.

One of my favorite portions of the Bible is Psalms 103. I could pray, sing, declare this Psalm all day long and it never fails to put me on a real spiritual high. I have it memorized and so many times as part of my time of prayer and fellowship with the Lord this Psalm would naturally just flow from my lips. I started to realize though that it was almost becoming an automatic recital and I wasn’t focusing on what the Word was actually saying.

Then one morning it hit me. I was almost done saying it and felt like I would just speak it all over again when I thought, hey this Psalm is telling me to speak to my soul. This Psalm is telling me to tell my soul and all that is inside of me that it should bless The Lord’s Holy name. This Psalm was telling me that I should talk to myself.

Well I almost did a dance on the street right there and then. I had no problem with that. In fact, if I remember correctly, I did a little hop when I got the revelation.

It was like my mouth speaking, my soul had been sleeping but then was jolted awake and what happened next was incredible. I didn’t care in that moment who was looking at me or how they were looking at me.

I started to talk to my soul and I said, “Soul it doesn’t matter how you feel today, it doesn’t matter how bad things went yesterday, it doesn’t matter about tomorrow, right now I am telling you to bless the Lord.”

And I said soul, no time for a pity party, I am speaking directly to you right now.

Psalm 103:1 “Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!

Soul, even though you are still waiting on answers to prayer don’t you dare forget all the benefits that come with serving God. Soul, don’t you dare forget the benefits of abundant life, everlasting life, good health, a loving family, and on and on.

Verse 2….Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits.

Soul, do you realize that He has forgiven ALL of your sins and healed you of ALL your diseases?

Verse 3…..Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,

Soul, do you know He has kept you from destruction? He has protected you from harm and danger over and over? Are you aware my soul how He showers you with fresh merices every single day? No roll-overs or left-overs but fresh and new every morning that you open your eyes.

Verse 4…..Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies,

O my soul, God has been so good to you that He constantly fills your life with good things and keeps you young and fresh. It’s not just exercise, food and beauty products, soul, it’s the Hand of the Lord that’s keeping you young and vibrant.

Verse 5….Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

I am telling you, I spoke God’s word to my soul that morning in a way that I never did before and I have never looked at that Psalm in the same light. There is no automatic rattling off any more as I am so aware of every word in it. That Word affected my whole being. I was energized in such a way that I really felt like running through a troop and leaping over a wall. My goodness, God’s word is truly spirit and life.

Friend, today, remind yourself of the goodness of the Lord.

Pause and Ponder

Wherever you are at in life, I want to encourage you to speak to your soul today and remind yourself of all you have in Christ. You may be going about your daily duties of work and home but your soul may be feeling down, discouraged or discontented. I know what I am talking about because I have been at that place. If you feel like your life is at a standstill, or at a cross-roads, then it’s a perfect time to command your soul to stand up and bless the Lord.

Lord, we thank You today that Your Word is truly all that we need. Thank You Holy Spirit for simply reminding us, to remind ourselves, of how much You love and care for us. We thank You, in Jesus name. Amen

Blessings and thank you for reading.

So, what do you say today?

Psalm 119:103

Psalm 119:3 How sweet…

Ask any doctor and they will tell you that one of the key factors in whether a person live or die is their will. The best medicine in the world sometimes is no match for a person who wants to die. When people make a choice to live, and speak life, as sick as they may be, you find the results totally different than those who have given up and declare that they want to leave this world.

Throughout the scriptures we find verse after verse telling us to speak life. One thing we have to note is that we are not encouraged to choose life only when we feel like it. Instead, we are asked to consciously make a choice of life regardless of how things look.

Hear the voice of God to all of us:

Deuteronomy 30:19 “Today I have given you the choice between death and life, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!”

A few quick things to note in this oh so powerful verse.

1. The choice of either life or death is ours. God has not created robots, He has given us a free will and He allows us to make the choice, but tells us the benefits of making the right choice.

2. When we choose life instead of death, we are choosing blessings instead of curses.

3. Ever thought you were being watched? Well all heaven and earth is watching to witness the choice you will make.

4. When we choose life, it is not just for us but we are setting a precedent and leaving a legacy of life for our children and all future generations.

Today I say, we should choose life.

How do we choose life? We choose life by speaking God’s Word over our lives. We make a decision to agree with Him that we are leaders not followers, lenders not borrowers, overcomers and victorious people through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 18:21 tells us “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it (death or life).”

We get to decide if we want life or death.

If you have been disgusted or disappointed with how your life has turned out start to take stock of the things you have been saying. Make a new choice from today that you will start to speak life over yourself. Get into the Word and let it renew your mind. Start to declare the goodness of God in and around you.

Speak out your destiny. Decide to go after the will of God for your life instead of settling for what landed at your feet.

You are where you are today, because of the things you said yesterday, good or bad. How about turning things around and speaking your way to a better tomorrow?

Stop complaining and start confessing God’s best for you.

Turn your back on lack and declare yourself prosperous and provided for.         (Philippians 4:19)

Don’t feel bad anymore about the times you have failed; start to speak success over your life. (Joshua 1:8)

The doctor’s report is the doctor’s report: announce today that you are walking in the divine health Jesus purchased for you. (Isaiah 53:5)

Whosoever shall SAY is a familiar theme all through the gospels. We get what we SAY.

So, what do you SAY today?

Here are a few verses you can look up to get you started and on your way.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans……..

Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors……..

Deut. 28:13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail………

Psalm 35:27……let the Lord be magnified, Who takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.

Pause and Ponder

When we think about what we think about and then what we say, we can unmistakably see a direct correlation between the two. It’s no wonder then that when we fail at something we invariably blame ourselves and maybe we don’t even always understand why. In the four gospels we continually hear Jesus use the phrase, ‘whatsover you say, or whosoever shall say.’ Let us pay more attention, from today, to what we say. It is literally a matter of life or death.

Father, we are so grateful today for Your Word. Thank you for the Holy Spirit Who guides and leads us into all truth. Thank you for the truth of Your word that when we speak and declare it, brings life and health to us. We make a choice today not just to speak positive Words but to speak Your words of life. Thank You for watching over Your Word to perform it, in Jesus name. Amen
